Prerequisite: Metalsmithing 1 or equivalent
Discover a new way of adding color and pattern to the surface of your work!
In this workshop, students will learn the basics of working with liquid enamels and how to create surface finishes that can only be produced through the use of liquid form enamels.
Techniques covered in this workshop:
- Application and torch firing
- Over-firing to create various colors and effects
- Vinyl resists
- Accenting with liquid form colors
Enamel 2 is a great workshop to take if you would like to create your own, three-dimensional enameled objects that can be set in a piece of statement jewelry or act as a stand-alone decorative bowl or box.
Students are encouraged to ask questions throughout the workshop and will have plenty of class time to practice and experiment with the techniques covered. The tuition price includes your kit fee (a $20 value).
MATERIALS & TOOLS
Bring your Metalsmithing toolbox, including the following items:
- 6x12" 20ga copper sheet
- Optional: Ready-made/pre-cut copper shapes 18–24ga; (Rio Grande)
- A close-fitting N95 mask or 3M particulate respirator
Everything else will be provided by the Studio. The cost of these supplies is included in your tuition.
