Prerequisite: Metalsmithing 1
There are a number of stone setting techniques—including faceted stone setting—that often seem complicated when compared to bezel setting. Tube settings are essentially a bezel and are a wonderful way for metalsmiths to ease into the wider world of faceted stone setting.
In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of building and setting faceted stones in a tube style setting. We will start by soldering and setting a pre-made tube setting so participants can practice working with this technique. Then, we will move on to creating our own settings using both heavy and light wall tubing. The goal of this workshop is for participants to gain enough knowledge and hands-on experience to be able to confidently tube set faceted stones at home.
