In this workshop, students will learn to fabricate post-hoop earrings from scratch. This streamlined approach will make it easy to add these amusing earrings to your repertoire. The design is lovely as a standalone, but also offers endless possibilities for customization and embellishment.

Materials & Tools

  • 8 inches - Sterling Silver Round Wire, 10 ga, dead soft (Rio Grande #100310)
  • 6 inches - Sterling Silver Round Wire, 20 ga, dead soft (Rio Grande #100320)
  • Easy silver wire solder chips, 22 ga; bring what you have leftover from Metals 1
  • High Speed Steel Twist Drill, #60 (Rio Grande #329419)
  • 1.2 mm Cup Bur (Rio Grande #342249)
  • 4 or 5 inch Jeweler’s saw frame (Rio Grande #110132 or #110124)
  • Jeweler’s saw blades, #1 (Rio Grande #110308)
  • Jeweler’s ruler (6-inch) (Otto Frei #135.511)
  • Flush cutting Wire Cutters (Rio Grande #111260 or #111290)
  • Parallel-action pliers with nylon jaws (Rio Grande #111370)
  • Beeswax/Saw blade lube
  • 240, 320, 400, 600 grit sanding sticks; bring what you have from Metals
  • Safety glasses
  • N95, KN95 or P95 face mask
  • Dedeco Silicone Polishing Wheel Assortment and 1/6" screw mandrels ; bring what you have from Metals 1
