Discover how Suzanne Williams achieves fabulous depth and dimension in her designs using different layers of metals. Design considerations, composition, texturing techniques and how to assemble and create a frame for pieces will be discussed. Suzanne will present 3 different projects and participants will select 2 of the 3 projects to start with and make the third as time allows.

Projects may be made with a variety of metals; from copper sheet and brass sheet to a mixture of metals, or in all sterling silver. While not required, students are welcome to bring small stones (faceted or cabochons), stone settings, stamped pieces of silver, water or broom castings, fused silver pieces, or other items they may wish to incorporate into the design.

We are asking students to bring their own 18ga Sterling Silver sheet if possible, 20ga Sterling Silver sheet is optional.

MATERIALS KIT (required) $30 is in addition to your tuition and is payable directly to the instructor. Kit includes the following:  (*Please note: Sterling Silver sheet will not be included in the kit* )

  • Sterling silver crimp beads in different lengths with an inside diameter to fit 18g and 20g wire.
  • 18g and 20g Brass Escutcheon Head Pins
  • Easy, medium & hard silver solders
  • 18g and 20g brass and copper sheet
  • 18g and 20g Round Silver wire (if students want to make their own silver head pins)
  • 14g Square Sterling silver wire
  • 1x3mm and 1x4 mm Rectangular Sterling silver wire

NOTE: Students will not receive a pre-measured kit bag of items. Instead, Kit materials will be set out for students to choose their components during the course of the workshop. Depending on design and complexity, each student will likely have different needs for materials and will be able to help themselves to what they need, instead of being provided a pre-bagged kit.

Suzanne will also be bringing extra incidentals such as silver tubing (for custom cut crimp beads) and other gauges of silver sheet and wire, etc. just in case anyone needs it.

A limited amount of 18g and 20g Sterling Silver sheet will be available for purchase in case students need extra or were unable to purchase prior to the workshop.
