Learn to create this gorgeous, flowing wave ring from scratch. This design offers endless possibilities as a blank canvas for patterns and stone setting. Students will learn helpful soldering and fabricating techniques that can be applied to other designs and processes.
MATERIALS & TOOLS
Bring your Metalsmithing toolbox, including the following items:
- 16-18 gauge silver round wire, enough length to make 5 plain bands in your target size. *A small selection of wires will be available for purchase*
- Needle file assortment
- Sanding sticks (220, 320, 400, 600)
- Jeweler’s Saw frame
- 2/0 saw blades and wax/blade lube
- Silver Wire Solder in Medium and Hard
- Flex shaft accessories for finishing your piece - sanding drums, bristle discs, abrasive wheels, etc
- Protective eyewear
- N95 or P95 face mask or particulate respirator
Optional (some available in studio, but feel free to bring your own)
- Flat-faced hammer for planishing
- White-out or stop-flow
- Stainless steel binding wire
- Liver of Sulfur, raw or gel
