Learn to create this gorgeous, flowing wave ring from scratch. This design offers endless possibilities as a blank canvas for patterns and stone setting. Students will learn helpful soldering and fabricating techniques that can be applied to other designs and processes.

 

MATERIALS & TOOLS

Bring your Metalsmithing toolbox, including the following items: 

  • 16-18 gauge silver round wire, enough length to make 5 plain bands in your target size. *A small selection of wires will be available for purchase*
  • Needle file assortment
  • Sanding sticks (220, 320, 400, 600)
  • Jeweler’s Saw frame
  • 2/0 saw blades and wax/blade lube
  • Silver Wire Solder in Medium and Hard
  • Flex shaft accessories for finishing your piece - sanding drums, bristle discs, abrasive wheels, etc
  • Protective eyewear
  • N95 or P95 face mask or particulate respirator

 

Optional (some available in studio, but feel free to bring your own)

  • Flat-faced hammer for planishing
  • White-out or stop-flow
  • Stainless steel binding wire
  • Liver of Sulfur, raw or gel
