Prerequisite: Metalsmithing 1 or equivalent

Learn how to design and cast unique pieces in a process that is easily done at home with only a torch, crucible, casting flux and various colors of casting grains and alloys.

In this exciting workshop, participants will learn simple techniques for casting Sterling Silver, bronze, and gold or red alloys with the use of cuttlebone to create texture and design. You will explore methods for creating different gauges of metal for fabricating a unique piece of jewelry. Each of you will create a simple pendant and other castings to use in future jewelry designs.

Once you grasp the steps in this simple casting technique, this can be done from pristine cuttlebone to metal casting in your hand, in about 45 minutes!

Finished pieces can be used in all kinds of jewelry designs. Judy has taken this style of metal casting to an art form rarely seen which is both elegant and very appealing.

*A Material Kit Fee of $10 in addition to the course tuition is payable to the instructor for cuttlebone pieces. You may bring your own cuttlebone if desired.
